Flourine-free Hydrophobing System – the Pulcra Repellan® ZF series
Fluorine-based chemicals are facing increasing scrutiny due to their environmental and health impacts. Fluorinated organic compounds, commonly known as PFAS, have been identified as highly bioaccumulative and persistent in the environment, for what reason they are also called „forever chemicals.“ Their widespread use and resistance to degradation have raised significant concerns, leading to calls for their replacement wherever feasible.
In response to these challenges, Pulcra has developed an innovative portfolio of products designed to offer comparable performance to traditional fluorine-based chemicals while adhering to stringent environmental standards. The newly introduced REPELLAN® ZF (Zero Fluor) range of durable repellents delivers exceptional water and oil repellence for leather products. The system consists of three distinct products that can be used either in complex finish formulations or as a single coat, such as on nubuck. Depending on the substrate and formulation applied, the results achieve water and oil resistance levels comparable to those of fluorine-based chemicals.
